Rain

by Juno Oddysey
(New York)

Rain is nice
Washin' away the world
Like the Sky is forcing the Earth to take a bath
Making the streets slick and shiny
Making the ground slick and muddy
Making the sky thick and cloudy
Making me feel calm and quiet
Rain
It washes away yesterday
'cause Night was suppose to do that
But he was busy flirtin' with Day
And Sky got angry and
and
and
I'm being silly again
Its all this Rain
Makin' me feel
bubbly
airy
clean, even
Heck, let's imagine
Sky tells Rain to clean up her older brother Night's mess
She slowly storms in
Angry
Lightning
"Why do I gotta clean up after HIM?!"
Thunder
Then
Rain cries.
"Aint no body gon' listen to me ever. Night gets to do all he wants. I gotta clean up after him. Snow was waitin' on me and now-"
Crash.
A tree catches on fire.
"Screw him! I'm gonna go to Snow!"
The storm passes.
It washed away
All of our pitiful sorrows
That pile of leaves no one was gon' rake up
That gutter no one was gon' clean
That flower no one was gon' water
Sad
Pathetic
We get what we want from Rain's sorrows
We get what we want from others suffering
But then again
It was just a story
