Regret

by Robert Jose Newberry
(Grand Prairie, TX)

How many nights I would have seen clear, how I would have awoken without doubt. I would never have let my guard down and given my body to demons and witches. My face wouldn't be etched with a frown and my body with cuts and stitches. My hands would have had no blood stain and my eyes wouldn't have run dry of tears. I wouldn't have known so much pain and wasted so many years.
