Rise up and be kind

by CAZ CROWN
(South Africa )

I wish you'd understand , the darkness is my light

For everything I have, I had to fight

It was just me and me at night

Dealing with these feelings on the inside

Overdosing one too many times, I almost died

Waking up and seeing my mama who just cried

I wish I could change it all

And go back to playing pro ball

But before the rise,  came the fall

In no time hitting the ground

And strength inside me couldn't be found

I locked me away from the world, not making a sound

With each passing day,  losing my mind

There was no more pills for me to grind

Just repeating my mantra, "rise up and be kind"
