Roundabout Of Addiction

by Susan Logan
(Newtownabbey, County Antrim. N.I.)

I could go round and round in circles,
Tie myself up in knots.
Everything but tell you these awful feelings
That I've got!
Confusion, disillusion,
Despair and dismay.
One thing I know for certain
I can't continue this way.
I need to start making decisions
To change my horrid life.
I need to make amends to all those
Who I have caused so much strife.
I'm sick of going round and round in circles
Tying myself up in knots.
So these feelings I must tell you,
But be prepared there are lots.
All I need is someone to listen
Alleviate my fears,
Help me on the path to recovery
The one I’ve been denying all these years.
