Shrouded in Darkness

by Cody Binford
(Sacramento, CA)

Sometimes I sacrifice the goodness inside,
to ease the demons that I try to hide,
their hunger insatiable, tearing apart,
every vessel of light in my heart,
shrouded in darkness, losing my sight,
my soul is lost, I can no longer fight,
giving in to the inevitable doom,
fear rushing through me, zoom, zoom, zoom,
demon wings break out of my back,
my halo above, is now all that I lack.
