SOMETIMES I AM SAD

by Shashi
(Mumbai (India))

SOMETIMES I AM SAD
SOMETIMES I WANT TO SLEEP LITTLE MORE,
IN THE MORNING, BUT
MOTHER SAYS, WAKE-UP BABY
YOU HAVE TO GO TO SCHOOL.

SOMETIMES I WANT TO PLAY, LITTLE MORE,
IN THE EVENING, BUT
MOTHER SAYS, BABY THE TIME IS OVER
DO YOUR HOME-WORK AND IT’S TIME TO HAVE DINNER.

SOMETIMES I WANT TO EAT, MY MEAL LITTLE SLOWLY,
IN THE AFTERNOON, BUT
MOTHER SAYS, BABY GULP FAST
YOU HAVE TO RUSH FOR THE ACTIVITY CLASS.

SOMETIMES I SAY, LITTLE SLOWER,
WHILE WALKING WITH MY FATHER, BUT
FATHER SAYS, COME ON, RUN MY BABY,
YOU HAVE TO GROW FASTER.

SOMETIMES I WANT A MORE ATTENTION,
FROM MY TEACHER, WHILE IN THE CLASS, BUT
TEACHER SAYS, READ AND WRITE RAPIDLY
YOU HAVE TO COMPLETE THE CHAPTER QUICKLY.
ALAS! ALL ARE IN HURRY, BUT WHY?
SOMETIMES I AM REALLY SAD,
DEAR PARENTS AND TEACHER,
I WANT TO GROW LITTLE SLOWER.

I AM FOLLOWING YOUR FOOTSTEPS
SOMEDAY WHEN I AM ALL GROWN UP,
I WOULD WANT TO LEAD JUST RIGHT, BECAUSE
SOMEDAY I WILL BECOME SOMEONE’S MENTOR.
