Summer

by Emilee DeFrancesco

The breeze cools my face as I walk on a hot summer day
A silent pool calls my name, wanting me to swim
I take off my outer clothing, left only in my bikini
I tiptoe up the ladder, a wave of exhilaration numbing my mind for a second
I plunge in suddenly, wanting to be enveloped in peace
My head sinks slowly under, a sweet, quiet calm
I close my eyes and relax, slowly floating to the surface
The noises from outside quickly fill my ears, destroying the peace
I dive back under again, seeking the quietness of the pool
And everything happens again.
