The Beloved, The Messenger

by Shoaib Kayani
(Buckinghamshire)

O Mercy for the universe, O seal of the Prophets
Thou are the knower of His secrets,

O Noble one, O Chief of mankind
To You all peace from both worlds combined

To You belongs the highest respect,
You are the most Perfect, without defect

Who is a sinner to sing Your praise?
Now I must my heart is ablaze

You are The Light, from His Light
A guiding lantern, our eyes delight

You are The Pure, The Immaculate, The Good,
Grant me a passage out of falsehood

An impure heart, an unclean tongue
I pray for purity as I sing this song

I am a sinner, this is my plea,
You are my saviour, The Messenger of Mercy

A particle I long to be;
Of dust beneath your blessed city

Were it so I’d have no lament,
Of this life I would happily repent

For now my heart accepts no other
You are my Master, The Beloved, The Messenger

This is good.

I really liked this poem. Some of the lines were too long, and I thought that a couple of them had weird ryhmes, but it had a nice flow to it.
Its nice to see Christian poetry.
