THE BROKEN

THE BROKEN

From the shadows came darkness
The net of safety bursts open
Frailty this angel now lays broken

On deaf ears words of despair fell
Never spoken were the cries and woes
Seldom awakened such physical needs

Love turned to heart of stone
No more the angel who once was
Heaven no longer its true place

In secret passion released
The wounded angel embraced
Searching for Heaven’s place

For vanity’s sake, humility’s face
In disgrace painful realization
An emptied soul suffocating

Mirrored images from the past
Fear, awaking the emptiness
The gates close as darkness prevails.
