The Clearing

by Christine Redderith-Roderick
(CT, USA)

His hands were outstretched
as if in a protective manner.
The clouds held us within their grasp.
The barn sat in the clearing as we slept.
Our energy drained. Our hearts opened.
Every ounce of our energy was
spent wrapped around each piece of
every inch of each others being.
His soft touch,
her warm kisses.
Her heart,
his mind.
The clearing provided a
protective space from
the everyday pressures.
They met in the middle.
They laid their souls as
they laid their bodies.
On and in each other.
The clearing was more
than a piece of land
it was a opening to them.
