The Fading Scent of Perfume

by Thomas Koron
(Grand Rapids, MI)

In the deepest memories of my mind,
There is a place to which I wish to go.
Remembering a woman fair and kind,
I miss her more than she will ever know.
And yet, I still find myself asking how
It is we could have passed each other by.
Although, I cannot think about that now;
She disappeared without a reason why.
The air is still, and she has gone away;
I sit and wonder where this woman went.
Hoping we meet again another day;
For each moment with her is time well spent.
Now, my tearful eyes scan this empty room,
That’s filled with the fading scent of perfume.
