The Missing

by Jessica Rhodes
(Albuquerque, NM)

Where stems this hint of loneliness
Amidst this crowded room?
Dare I say it's not the many
Yet, perhaps t'is the whom
Blind eyes surfing this sea,
Waves of mindless abyss
Lips moving, never speaking
Sensing something amiss
Flickering candlelight of memory,
Dancing sparks in the shadows
Fading away, unfocused clearly
Floating outside the unknown...

by: James Smart

Very axiomatic, beautifully written piece on the lost, precious moments wasted in superficiality. That's what I see anyway.
