The Old Park Bench

by Ralph Randolph Sawyer
(Houston, Texas)

On the old park bench
In the old part of town
By the cool river
In summers warm
I think of a lover
I knew so well
Reminding me
The grass still grows
In the glade by the river
My memories fade
I sit and dream now
And in the river I wadIe sit quietly by the river
And I sit alone
On the old park bench
For my lover is gone
With my memories of love
I sit by the river
On an old park bench
Not far from home
