The Philosophy of A Kiss

by LB Sedlacek
(Lenoir, Nc)

Behaving normally
what a rational thought
of feelings
hope and light
sent reeling
into delirious flight
capturing
a moment’s fancy
that could darken
at any instant
or flutter
at his or her insistence
like a fly
heading into a window
bound for self-destruction
this moment
this feeling
comes with no instructions
but don’t worry
don’t be afraid
unlike the fly you will survive
you can get away
yet why would you want to
the moment is sincere
the feelings are clear
so don’t waste them
keep your eyes open
your heart beating
and dare to be alive
before the moment is through
and hands go
deep in pockets
eyes look down at the ground
wondering if there’s anything
else to do.
