THE PRICE WE PAY

by Dr. Rick McGrath, Ph.D.
(Modesto, CA)

Broken heart does our spirits plead
Brave soldiers fight while they still bleed
Their voices they do cry
The sound of bombs are in the sky

Pounding hearts and lingering fear
Death all around dark at night
Shoulder to shoulder we stand near
Soldiers witness such a horrible sight

As our soldiers weep
Sadness overtakes them
A raging battle of death it does sweep
The light of their life becomes so dim

Their broken bodies home they return
Family destroyed and torn
More are sent to take their turn
Courage from our brave they are sworn

Shameful that war has to be
It’s the price we pay for being free.

Why war? Be it between countries or states or families, Its because we've lost patience to think about the consequences. Please folks, all those who like war read this poem that has come from one heart that bleeds against war,try and feel with him, you'll never ever want (to) make war again.
