There Are Some Things

Not warming my hands at a nice cozy fire,
Never admitting I’m falling down tired,
Ignoring a beautiful day in July,
Not driving my car for the very first time.

There are some things you can’t stop from doing
Like looking at girls who are there for the looking.
Those things that I do just cannot be helped,
Once I get started, I can’t help myself.

Not eating the cherry until the very last,
Not trying to reach the itch under the cast,
Pretending the pyramids aren’t really there
Is just like not telling you I really care.

There are some things you can’t stop from doing,
Like looking at girls who are there for the looking.
There are some things like a love that is glowing,
There are some things you can’t keep from knowing.
