To My Birth Mom

by Rachelle Dinkins
(Bishopville, SC)

To my birth mom, even though I was taken from you 20 years ago,
I guess it was fate that I found you.

To my birth mom, as a young teen I wanted you back in my life, but I was unable to get help to find you, cuz the law said I had to wait til I was 18.

To my birth my mom, so when I reached adulthood I had this void of not having you here in my life, you have missed out on my whole life.

To my birth mom, even though you weren't here to see me grow into what I am today, without what you did on that sad day of letting me go, I wouldn't be where I am today.
