TO THE NEXT GENERATION

To My Son

To My Son

Today you see me my child,
we stand in the stream
I show you my true and best way to dream
GIVEN these waters so fluid and true;
GIVEN the trout, the salmon and bass
Each taking their own position among the rocks and stream grass
Being quiet, observant, and tangibly shrewd
ALL awaiting the right moment for you
To cast your dry, dun, emergent or nymph
And the waters suddenly coming alive for just a glimpse
Of a prize you just dreamed of a short moment ago
In your bright and swift future, I hope you will look at your past
To see and remember some of the dreams, that with me you did cast!
Love Dad
