Upstream

by JAVOK

I swim
Upstream
Through cool blue waters
Against the currents
Toward the shimmering light
Of the sky
That dances
On top of the canopy
Like liquid diamonds.
Sun stroked,
Pulling me
With magnetic force
Toward destiny
Where I will spawn
New life,
Breathe
New air,
And leave this stream
For it is now
Smaller than me,
Dwarfed
By the bane of existence,
Paled
In comparison to my dreams,
Depleted
Of true sustenance,
Polluted
By life gone by.
And so,
I swim
Upstream
Toward the shimmering light
Of liquid diamonds
And I will quench my thirst
And bathe
In the dry heat
Of a yellow sun
And feast
On the promise
Of everything new.
And fulfill
A desire
To swim
Upstream
No more.
