Walking Blind with the Devils Stick

Walking Blind With The Devils Stick.

It was such a mental strain, it’s a pain that stabs right threw the brain
The energy it drains, the meds to contain, to keep life in the slow lane
See I tried to entertain, with drugs and champagne, the highs and mundane
But my internal cerebral vein met with such disdain and screamed for Mary Jane
That I gave into the fast lane, of free love and no pain, and joined the insane
On the bypass lane, kicked the old ball and chain, in an attempt to regain
Or even obtain, some of what was sane living in the world on a separated plain

It was quarter past four, behind the local drug store
Smoke floated, then poured out the employees backdoor
There was a want, a score, a true need for some more
When choice becomes chore and there is no going back to before

When you drag your soul’s core across any dirty floor
There’s no doorway you won’t explore, just to get some more
To feel that rush, that sore, that hot blooded roar
It is war, for the poor and in the end, it’s all gore.

I began to wonder about scoring some stick,
I just need to roll my very next trick,
Give her the old backseat with a brick
Then the night I would dance without being sick

I heard her tap shoes walking tock by tick
I did not care if she was selling a swallow or a lick
It was the contents of her purse I needed to pick
Only my glazed eyes, walking with the Devil’s stick

She was tall, thin and her armpits were hairy
She smiled like a newbie but she was no Virgin Mary
Her swagger, her gruff, the I in her name Terri
Gave the impression she took the A-train and not the local ferry
I could see from the sidewalk she wasn’t any new cherry
However, her drifting eye, and dropping smile, I knew her pimp would carry

So I bobbed back a step, though my heart skipped and leapt
And held my breath as my balls upwardly crept.
It was a main score that I would need and accept
I became swept up in the night, as the city quietly slept
Find my mark, plan my intercept, and take the next step.

But then I heard her tap shoes walking tock by tick
I did not care if she was selling a swallow or a lick
It was the contents of her purse I needed to pick
Only glazed eyes, walking with the devils stick

The spic chick with the stash told me she’d accept only cash
That Fat Rick the house Dick told her with his trick
About Allentown’s newest piece of white trash
Said my credits fried and died because the streets don’t lie
And she’d slice my heart like pie if I gave another try,
And to forget about getting high, it was time to say goodbye

Vinny Sanitation checked in for meditation, flushed all his medication, was waiting patiently for the detoxification,
The dehydration, and a side of emancipation from the everyday delusions and hallucination that mental illness can be found through medical salvation.

There was some explanation for his wanting this transformation.
Be it obligation, revelation or a good shot of presentation
See the cops had Vinny’s location and cooperation
For it was his infiltration and drug vocation would get him
A short vacation and three years of probation

His roommate the pessimistic, narcissistic old age relic
Was feeling kind of ecstatic, acting quite charismatic,
While talking so dramatic about the visually erotic.
I heard his sister’s moronic snorting of illegal anti-psychotics from upstairs thinking they were true narcotics.

My partner in crime, known to drop a dime yet shines so fine
Calmly mainlined some pure homemade chronic, he'd stolen from a dwarf drinking rum and tonic and eating a burger from the local sonic.

So after receiving a virgin given high colonic
I knew the night would end chaotic,
I was hoping for something more platonic
And aiming my sights toward the ultra erotic.

I heard her tap shoes walking tock by tick
I didn’t care if she was selling a swallow or a lick
It was the contents of her purse I needed to pick
My glazed eyes, walking with the devils stick

She, her name was, and she said it was to be
Follow me, to be free, find your spirit and glee
Calm yourself behind what is me, you will see and be free
Slowly, evenly and without seeing she heard my plea

Silently and blindly I walked, crept and stalked
As she talked, she turned my world over as we embarked
Through new dimensions, and properties of time
And before I knew it, I lost what was mine

She became the earth I spoiled, the air I soiled
He that was me became totally uncoiled
For I was not me and she was not free
As long as we both needed, we would need to be

Because I heard her tap shoes walking tock by tick
I didn’t care if she was selling a swallow or a lick
It was the contents of her purse I needed to pick
My glazed eyes, walking with the devils stick

I feel like I'm walking through fields of broken glass,
A paintball gun sight pointed at my ass,
The days slip by, my babies are growing way to fast,
One can only hope my memory will surpass
Trying hard to live up to something that will last,
While shadows of nightmares chase me from my past.
