Was it Really a Dream?

by Shelly Knittle
(Alaska)

I woke up this morning,
thrilled you were there.
I turned into your embrace,
breathed the scent of your hair.
Your strong arms they held me tight,
your hand touched my face.
Your lips kissed me breathless,
you slowed any haste.
Slowly you removed my gown,
while your lips teased my ear.
Your hand lightly touched my breast,
you breathed, "I'm all yours, dear."
I reached out to touch you
but I felt only air.
I realized I was dreaming,
you were not really there.
