Well, here’s a garland green...

by Jeremy Gathercole
(UK)

Well, here’s a garland green
for you,
oak and wild roses twined
- token of your union -
and sprigged with larkspur,
blue as the sky:
they say it clarifies your sight.

This charm –
to shield your hopes
and gild your dreams
with sunlight speckled
through its leaves –
bears witness to our deepest wishes:
for health and happiness in each day
and wonders every night.
