Why I love the 8th of March

by Amita Jadhav
(Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India)

It’s that special day of the year
When I can legitimately take a break
From those boring household chores
That give me a splitting headache!

It’s that special day of the year
When free from my daily routine
I can proceed to let my hair down
to chill-out with friends or simply lie-in!

It’s that special day of the year
When I can read a book to its very end
And not have to worry about my English class
But can catch up with my Facebook friends!

It’s that special day of the year
When I hear no gripes or complaints
Truly free to do anything I choose
For the hubby is behaving like a saint!

It’s that ONE day of the year
I shall jealously guard and treasure
’coz tomorrow everything will revert to form
To exact sweet revenge on me in full measure!

great stuff

Great thoughts - just what a woman wants to do quite often - just give up all responsibilities and life for herself.........

perfectly suits the homemakers

I guess the poem is composed in a very leisurely mood . It brings out a perfect reflection of the homemakers and yes the working women also as it reminds them to not only work but give some time for themselves
