Why?

by Caneel
(Maine, USA)

I wish I could find a way to please you
You won't notice me unless I change
I am who I am
I can change, but why should I?

Because more people will like you
Because you are kind of weird, and that's not good
Because you have the potential to be popular

And you look surprised when I laugh

What makes you think I care about being popular?
Why should I try to be who I'm not?
It's stupid and wrong and a waste of time
Why should I?

That's what I thought your answer would be
