Wondering

by southpawokpoet
(haskell, okla)

I've been wondering
lately

who you are
what you are like
at night

when it's late
siting on the porch,

Do you long,
only for a warm bed,

a place to lay your
head,

willing arms to hold
you there,

or will you stay
with me a while

like with a child

who longs to share
the night

speaking

and laughing of
dreams

telling you of thoughts
I've seen

songs I would like to sing,

I wonder

would it make
a difference

if we took off

our wedding rings.

This is very insightful. It reminds me of a quote "We are all in this together alone." Not only do we not know each other, we often hide our deepest selves from each other.

Anyway, thank you for this lovely poem - it made me ponder.
